Why It Seals Better Than the Plastic Cover

Our cover ships with replacement hardware for the Rugged Radio mounting plate. The billet cover recesses over the top of these replacement screw heads, which serve as a datum to control the exact depth at which the cover sits. This means the O-ring compresses consistently every time, the cover cannot slide laterally, and it can only be removed by pulling straight off — not sliding. The plastic cover's stock mounting bolts space it off the sealing surface so the O-ring never fully compresses. Ours fixes that by design.

Will this fit my Rugged Radio?

If your Rugged Radio uses the standard RM-series mount footprint, yes — this cover fits the same models as Rugged Radio's own cover. See the incompatibility list above for exceptions.

Why does your cover seal better than the plastic one?

The plastic cover's stock mounting bolts space it off the sealing surface so the O-ring never fully compresses. Our replacement hardware lets the billet cover recess over the screw heads, controlling the exact seating depth so the O-ring seals consistently every time.

What logos are available?

Is hardware included?

Yes — replacement mounting hardware for the Rugged Radio plate is included with every cover.

How long does installation take?

Most installs take under 15 minutes with the included hex key.

What material is the cover made from?

6061-T6 aircraft-grade billet aluminum, CNC-machined for precise fitment and long-term durability in harsh off-road conditions.

Is this made in the USA?

Yes. Every Reed Made Speed product is made in the USA with US materials and tools — not just assembled here.

Can I pressure wash it?

We don't recommend pressure washing directly at the cover. A garden hose is fine and it handles trail mud, rain, and water crossings without issue.
