VP M1 is a racing methanol fuel with a 99.95% minimum purity, the highest purity available in any racing methanol product sold in the United States. It is formulated for competition engines in methanol-legal racing classes, packaged in lined drums to prevent contamination, and delivers a MON greater than 120 with 49.93% oxygen content.

M1 runs cooler and reduces corrosion compared to standard methanol blends. For teams running a full season in Top Alcohol, Sprint Car, or Midget programs, fuel consistency is a requirement, not a preference. A fuel that changes composition between drums forces retuning, introduces detonation risk, and shortens engine life. M1 does not change.

VP packages M1 in lined drums specifically to prevent rust, corrosion, and metal deposits from entering the fuel. Unlined drums introduce particles and moisture that accelerate injector wear, clog filters, and contaminate carburetors. The lined drum is an engineering decision that protects the fuel from the container itself.

Approved racing applications:

Frequently asked questions:

What is VP M1 race fuel? VP M1 is a 99.95% minimum purity racing methanol, the highest purity available in any racing methanol product sold in the United States. It has a MON greater than 120, 49.93% oxygen content, and is packaged in lined drums to prevent contamination. Approved for NHRA, sprint car, midget, and other methanol-legal classes.

Why does purity matter in racing methanol? Most methanol sold for racing meets a general fuel-grade specification, not a racing-specific one. Water content, contaminants, and chemical variability cause tuning drift, deposit buildup, and corrosion in high-output engines. At 99.95% minimum purity, M1 eliminates those variables batch to batch.

Why does VP M1 use lined drums? VP packages M1 in lined drums to prevent rust, corrosion, and metal particles from entering the fuel. Unlined drums introduce contamination that accelerates injector wear, clogs fuel filters, and damages carburetors. The lined drum is a fuel quality decision, not a cosmetic one.

What is the difference between VP M1 and VP M5? M1 is 99.95% pure methanol with no additives, making it legal for classes that mandate pure methanol. M5 is an enhanced methanol blend with combustion additives that produce more power and a wider tuning range, suited for classes where additives are permitted. If your rulebook requires pure methanol, use M1.

Does VP M1 require hazmat shipping? Yes. M1 is a flammable liquid subject to hazmat regulations. A surcharge will be added at checkout and reflected in your shipping cost.
